I hope this finds you well. We have a lot to catch you up on but first I want to mention an event that RESCUE is hosting on Saturday, April 17th from noon to 3pm at our Feline Care Center (4122 N. 36th Street, Phoenix). We need your help to spread the word about our event. Do you know someone who is considering adopting a cat or are you thinking of adding a feline friend to your household? This event is for you! We will have over 20 FANTASTIC RESCUE cats awaiting your arrival. They are anxiously looking to meet their potential adopters! We have cats of all ages, sizes, colors and personalities! Each one of them needs a loving forever home! With your help we can find them a home at our event. Please help the cats of RESCUE by posting our event on your Facebook page and/or emailing your co-workers, friends and family asking them to attend and to help us spread the word about our event! With your help our event will be wildly successful and we will be able to find permanent homes for many of our cats. Remember, for every cat we place we are back to save another from the kill list!
And here's what's been going on at RESCUE:
On 3/16 long time RESCUE cat Anastasia was adopted!! We couldn't have been happier for our Annie! She got a wonderful home - click here for all the details and photos and here for a recent update.
On 3/17 RESCUE was honored to save FOUR dogs from the kill list! We have Adalay, who is only 5.4 pounds!! She's very sweet and looks a bit like former RESCUE dog Miriam. She's moving into foster care as I type this. Then we have Brandy who is only about 10 months new. She is a bit timid and appears to have lived her life outside. :( She's not familiar with a leash and is a bit mouthy (it's the puppy in her). She responses very well with encouragement. She looks like chocolate lab, but she's narrow like a Vizsla and currently weighs in at 33 pounds although she is a tall gal. Drew is another youngster who looks like mini version of former RESCUE dog Paige. Drew is only nine pounds and is sooooooooo sweet! Last but not least is Jada. Jada is a solid 67 pound black lab. She knows sit and loves everyone!
On 3/19 RESCUE dog Jacob was adopted! Jacob such a great home, many of our volunteers asked if the adopters would adopt them too! To learn all the details and see photos, click here and for a recent update click here.
On 3/21 RESCUE dog Wyatt was adopted by a retired widower. Unfortunately a couple of days after Wyatt was adopted, his adopter returned him. He was overwhelmed by having dog hair in his home. It had been 15 years since he had a dog and that was a poodle. Sadly he did not realize that dog hair would be a problem for him. RESCUE of course took him back and will continue to work hard to find him his permanent loving home.
On 3/23 RESCUE dog Drew moved into foster care. He has been enjoying his time with his canine foster siblings and getting a lot of love from his foster family.
On 3/25 RESCUE saved Greyson from the kill list. Sadly his big, boy was placed on the kill list because he had diarrhea. :( He was matted and covered in feces when we saved him. I'm happy to report that he has been bathed, groomed and had his teeth cleaned. He couldn't be happier and is a HUGE favorite with our volunteers!
On 3/30 RESCUE saved two dogs from the kill list. We have 8 pound Seth. He is a cute little Chihuahua mix with a part of his ear missing. :( If you rub him just right he'll make a bunch of cute noises. I have it on video so you'll have to check it out to see for yourself.
Then we have 81 pound Ginger. Ginger is an overweight Rottie! She LOVES people despite the fact that her owners gave her up when they moved. With the loving help of our volunteers we will get this "fluffy" girl's weight under control. Our vet discovered that like most Rottie's, Ginger has some issues with her hips. Thankfully she doesn't need any surgery but losing the weight will really be a HUGE help to her. So we decided to move her into foster care. After a week in foster care Ginger has settled in and enjoying daily walks and hopefully as it gets warmer, time in the swimming pool. This is a picture of her in foster care! What a happy girl!
On 4/2 RESCUE dog Jada moved into foster care. Jada is recovering from her recent spay surgery and settling into time with her canine foster brother and loving family.
On 4/2 RESCUE cat Finn was adopted! It was a tough choice for Finn's mom but he pulled out all the stops! To see photos from his adoption and learn about his adoption, click here.
On 4/2 RESCUE cat Savannah got adopted! Our beautiful girl completely stole her new families hearts! Here are the photos and notes from her adoption.
On 4/6 RESCUE was privileged to save THREE dogs from the kill list. We have little Emily. She appears to be a French Bulldog/Chihuahua mix. She is a shy girl but with the help of our volunteers she'll come around. She's tiny but still manages to fit 9 pounds into her little frame! Then we have Kaylee. For our long time supporters Kaylee reminds me of former RESCUE dog Radar, although she is not as energetic - still energetic but not Radar energetic! :) Kaylee is SUPER sweet! She has the most expressive eyes, is a goofball that loves to play fetch but is also happy to curl up for a nap or a belly rub! Kaylee is a Greyhound/Dobie mix weighing in at 57 pounds. She was given up by her owners when they moved. One of our volunteers fell in love with Kaylee's picture and decided to foster her! :) And lastly we have Gracie. Gracie is a gray/brindle Mastiff. She's been a puppy making machine for awhile. :( Even though she is 82 pounds, she is skinny! :( She has your typical laid back Mastiff personality. Gracie has a skin infection and an inflamed eye lid. We are treating both conditions and have her on a high calorie diet to help her gain weight too!
